About the Artist

I have been enthralled in the craft of jewellery making since 2003 and work from my home studio in Maryborough, Queensland (Australia) where I have been developing my style and mastering my chosen techniques.

With the champagne taste of gemstones, pearls and crystals along with precious metals, I have embraced techniques such as wire sculpture and wrapping, Precious Metal Clay (PMC), and also the simple art of stringing to create wearable art works with bold and and unique designs.

I am currently exploring the world of metalsmithing and have discovered a whole new world of design options that this form of jewellery making brings with it. I plan to expand my experience with PMC, try my hand at chainmaille and want to learn more about other various techniques in the future.

I make jewellery in between my other job - mum to 2 children, Claudia aged four and Darcy who is two, and wife to husband Craig. I can already see the artistic flair showing in my daughter - one day she created a collage using household items like cheese slices, pegs and paper to make a tiger! Claudia loves to draw, paint and stick things together. She oozes with creativity and has a wild imagination. I can't wait to see what she grows up to be!

I've always wanted to create beautiful things, and jewellery is the artform I have been in search of for as long as I can remember. I want to try everything and absorb my entire artistic self into every form of jewellery making, and do my best to be able to perfect each style and create individual, one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces.

I love gemstones - smooth, faceted, icy clear or heavily included with handfuls of character. To be able to take colour and texture and combine them in a marriage with metal, creating a feast for the senses of sight and touch is an invigorating feeling. This gives me extreme highs and once finished leaves me so exhausted that I can barely handle anything stimulating for days after! But every single one of my pieces is worth the rollercoaster of artistic emotion.

When I see one of my pieces and its new owner meet, I can almost feel the earth move - seeing that that piece was specifically waiting for that person to find it. It's incredibly satisfying to see the union of person and jewellery and know that it was meant to be. That union is the ultimate end result, after what can be a long journey of discovery, design and creation for myself.
